EHS Art Show posted on 06/01/2012
The Emmaus High School Art Department unveiled a permanent wall installation in the department at the annual art show held on Thursday, May 31st. The unveiling was the culmination of 2 years of work with art teachers and students within the various courses taught in the EHS art program. The mural began as a drawing contest last year among twenty plus Drawing 2/3 students. Once a drawing was selected for the project, the drawn design was altered in Photoshop in the Design 2/3 course. Students worked in teams developing colors and making slight alterations that would help the drawing work best for the media selected for the final installation.

This year, the design pieces were developed for the wall using ceramic pieces, glass fusion tiles and a wood burning technique. Students from various courses such as Ceramics, Crafts, 2D and 3D Design, along with the Art Club and Mud Club, have learned about and employed the techniques above into a mosaic mural. The project involved extensive planning and preparation by the art department to bring to fruition and it is a beautiful addition to the high school environment!
