WORKING PAPERS APPLICATION PROCEDURES

 

  1. STEP ONE:

 

In order to begin the working paper application process for the first time, a student’s parent must come to the Emmaus High School Main Office.  Parents will be asked to submit one of the following forms of his/her child’s identification:

  1. Child’s Birth Certificate (or)
  2. Child’s Passport (or)
  3. Child’s Baptismal Certificate

 

Working Paper Applications will be processed during the school year Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

 

Please note that Working Paper Applications will be processed during the summer Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

 

 

***Important Note – Working Papers are for students under the age of 18.  Students who are 18 years of age and older do not need working papers and are no longer covered under Child Labor Laws.

 

2.             STEP TWO:

 

When the student receives a white form labeled APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT CERTIFICATE OR TRANSFERABLE WORK PERMIT from the Emmaus High School Main Office, the student must complete the back side of the application by completing the following steps:

  1. The student must have their prospective employer complete the top portion of the application requesting information pertaining to type of work, kind of industry and total work hours.
  2. The student must then obtain a physical examination and have the attending physician complete the bottom portion of the application. 

 

3.             STEP THREE:

 

When the attending physician and the prospective employer have completed the back portion of the APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT CERTIFICATE OR TRANSFERABLE WORK PERMIT, the student (parent not needed at this time) must personally return the application to the Emmaus High School Main Office during the hours listed above.  The student will then be required to personally sign the appropriate work permit in the Emmaus High School Main Office at this time.

 

  1. STEP FOUR:

 

When the completed working paper application is returned to the Emmaus High School Main Office:

 

  • Students who are 14 and 15 years old will receive a Vacation Employment Form which must be returned to the employer by the student.  This form must be personally signed by the student in the Emmaus High School Main Office before being submitted to his or her employer.

 

  • Students who are 16 and 17 years old will receive a Transferable Work Permit which must be personally signed by the student in the Emmaus High School Main Office.  This form is then given to the student to keep on file until 18 years of age.

 

THE WORKING PAPER PROCESS IS COMPLETE ONCE THE STUDENT HAS RECEIVED A VACATION EMPLOYMENT FORM OR A TRANSFERABLE WORK PERMIT.
