From the Principal

Here’s some important information from the poop deck of the pirate ship Eyer….. The move into the new wing is rapidly approaching! Construction continues to be on time and we are preparing for some big changes with the start of the new year. Please note that the school board has approved the following schedule to allow for some packing and unpacking time over the holiday: Students will come to school at the normal time on December 21st and be dismissed at 11:00 (This part is also true at LMMS). Depending on the inspection and occupancy permit, students may get a chance to see some of the new building before leaving for the holiday, but we can’t count on that happening for sure. For the remainder of the day, teachers will finish any packing and movers will arrive at 3:00 and begin the process of moving all belongings to the new locations. Teachers will be able to unpack and prepare their rooms in the morning of January 2nd. Students will follow the same procedure for a late start on January 2nd as they did during the last Act 80 Day. Buses will arrive at the bus stops 3 hours and 15 minutes later than usual (This part only happens at Eyer Middle School). Students will then come to Eyer to their new classrooms. If you drop your children off in the morning, the school will not be open until 11:00. Please do not drop them off any earlier because no supervision will be available at that time. Procedures for navigating around Eyer will change beginning the first day back from the holiday break. From this time on, parent pick up and drop off will be on the Buckeye Road side of the building. This is where buses were loading and unloading in the past. The road is one way from the Buckeye Road entrance to East Macungie Avenue (Some say the extension of Brookside Road). All parent traffic will come in this entrance or down from the Shoemaker, Buttonwood Street area. The rear parking lot is for staff and the new parking area next to it is for bus loading. There is no visitor access to the building during the school day anywhere except on the Buckeye Road entrance. Parking is available to visitors at this entrance. All buses load and unload in the new area, outside of the new cafeteria. All students being transported on the bus will exit in the rear of the building. All students being picked up will exit in the front of the building, near the new office and bordering Buckeye Road. The office, the nurse’s suite, and the guidance office are located at the main entrance on this side of the building. Any student pickup during the day will also be handled here.

Athletic events after school will continue to use the back parking area and enter at the gymnasium entrance in the back of the building. Evening events will also utilize the rear parking areas and the new entrance in the rear of the building in the commons area.
