PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Welcome to Shoemaker Elementary School! Our school is located in the beautiful community of Macungie, PA, which is approximately 10 miles outside of Allentown and 50 miles Northwest of Philadelphia. We share a campus with Macungie Elementary School and Eyer Middle School. We are a kindergarten through 5th grade elementary school with approximately 715 students, 47 professional staff members and 45 support staff members.  We have 28 classes, including 5 sections of kindergarten, 5 sections of first grade, 4 sections of second grade, 5 sections of third grade, 4 sections of fourth grade, and 5 sections of fifth grade. Additionally our school has four special education classrooms, a gifted classroom and 2 computer labs.

Shoemaker is a beautiful and colorful building that has had its interior entirely renovated in recent years. The layout is conducive to maximizing student learning as each grade level has their own "pod" so that teaming and inclusion teaching can occur. We have a strong academic curriculum and are committed to helping our students become not just successful learners, but kind, compassionate, and well-rounded children. As an extension of our goal to help children become well-rounded individuals and make good choices, we have Mustang Meetings once a month, which are school-wide meetings where we recognize and celebrate student success.

I am proud to be the principal of a school that is so committed to not just education, but to children. I believe that schools and families working together with our children is one of the most powerful tools there is in the development of a child. This is why I so firmly believe in and encourage communication between home and school. My door is always open, and if I can be of assistance, please don't hesitate to call me at (610) 965-1626 or email me at lbrinckman@eastpennsd.org. I look forward to a very successful and rewarding 2011-2012 school year, and the privilege of working with your children every day.

Sincerely,

Lynn B. Brinckman
