High School Volunteers     High school students, indicating a desire to volunteer at Jefferson Elementary School, are asked to please complete the following information. Students will be working in a support capacity in the classrooms under the directions of the teachers, with training under the guidance of the classroom teachers and the Jefferson Elementary School Instructional Support Teacher, Mrs. Cannon.   The volunteer time will be during scheduled study hall periods, with permission from the high school principal and parents, and/or after the high school day, which is near the end of the Jefferson school day.  Since the high school dismisses earlier than Jefferson School, the students could be helping for approximately the last 60 minutes of the elementary school day.  Some activities in which the students could be involved include:                                 listening to students read                                   reading to students                                 reviewing math facts                                           studying spelling words                                 helping to pack school bags                              assisting in starting homework assignments                                 filing and sorting                                                  putting up and taking down bulletin boards   Students are responsible for their transportation to and from Jefferson Elementary School.   A brief orientation/training session for the high school students will be held at Jefferson Elementary School as they are assigned their assignment.
