Back-to-School Letter
Dear Parent(s) and/or Guardian(s),
Welcome to your child’s fourth grade year at
I am very excited about the upcoming school year, as I hope you and your child are too! Teaching is a commitment I take very seriously. I recognize that each of my students has his or her own way of learning and as the teacher, it is important for me to determine these styles and help all of my students achieve to the best of their ability. Throughout the school year, I will not only be helping my students learn, but learn how to learn. I also believe in learning from my students as they do from me. Learning is a life long process.
I will set high, but clear and appropriate expectations for all my students and will assist them in using their knowledge and abilities to meet those expectations. As I expect respect, cooperation, participation, and honesty from my students, they should expect the same from me. I believe my enthusiasm and dedication I have for my profession sets an example for my students.
Attached you will find a “Welcome to Fourth Grade” packet. This contains several of my policies and plans for the beginning of our school year. It also explains some very important information you will need to know to help prepare your child for each school day. Please take the time to read all of the information sent home and return the several permission/request forms that are attached to this packet. One explains the procedures for having your child photographed or videotaped throughout the school year, one provides you with the option to provide your name, phone number, and email address to our “Room Parent,” and the other one requests information for your child to have a “Homework Buddy.” Lastly, I have encolsed a “Student Inventory” form. Please fill out this document about your child in as much detail as possible. All of these are very important papers, which help me immensely in the planning of our classroom.
You are the most important person in your child’s life and together we can help him or her reach many exciting goals. Thank you for your help! I cannot wait to meet you!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jennifer Thomas
