Language Development

What should I expect my child's speech and language

development to be during elementary school?

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) has compiled information on developmental milestones and school expectations for children at each grade level.  It is important to remember that each child is an individual and may reach these milestones in different ways and times.  Choose a grade level to see the skills that most children are able to demonstrate:

Kindergarten

First Grade

Second Grade

Third Grade

Fourth Grade

Fifth Grade
