 Biography

This will be my twentieth year as a teacher in East Penn, and my eighth year as a sixth grade teacher here at Eyer Middle School.  I am a veteran of the United States Air Force, and have also been a commercial loan officer in the banking industry.  I earned my B.S. (in Business Administration with a minor in History), my initial teaching certification, and my M.Ed. from Kutztown University.  I am currently working on earning credits beyond my Master’s Degree (hence my belief in students being lifelong learners!).   My wife is a nurse practitioner in the field of ophthalmology.  We have two children; our son is a sophomore at Emmaus HS and our daughter just started her freshman year at Susquehanna University.

Philosophy

My mission as a teacher is to provide students with a safe and supportive learning environment in which they will feel comfortable while enjoying the learning process.  I will do this by being a positive role model, giving 100% effort and expecting the same from them, and being fair and consistent in my dealings with them as individuals.  In doing so, I hope to instill a lifelong love of learning in them.  I also expect them to assume personal responsibility to reach their individual potential, and to respect themselves and others.
