School Information and Hours

6135 Sauerkraut Lane

Macungie, PA 18062

Students are to arrive at school on time each day.  If you bring your child to school late, you must walk him or her into the office and sign in.  In the case of an absence, please complete an excuse blank or simply write a note and send it to the office within 3 days of the absence.  Extended absences due to vacations should be taken care of prior to the vacation.  You can obtain a form from the office.

Dismissal Change

If there is a change in your child's normal routine, please notify me in writing, either by email or note, on the day the change will occur.  I must receive something in writing from a parent if any child is to change his or her normal method of transportation.  Adding a telephone number is always helpful in case of questions.

Snack Time

We will have snack time everyday.  If you would like your child to particiate, please send in a healthy snack. Please do not send in: cookies, donuts, cakes, or sugary snacks. Veggies, fruit, crackers, yogurt etc. are ideal snacks.

Snacks should only consist of two things: water and something to eat.  Please remember that we only have about 10 minutes for snack.  When packing keep this in mind and please be sure that your child is able to open the container his or herself. Reinforce independence!

**Do not send in ANY foods with peanut products due to possible severe allergies**

Students may bring in a treat for his or her birthday. We will not celebrate with cupcakes, cake, food, etc. but you may send in wrapped candy in treats bags. All treats will be sent home to enjoy.

Summer birthdays will be celebrated towards the end of the year.  Participation in this is completely optional. If you choose to participate and send non-edible treats for the class, there are:

  • 25 students in our class

Also, don't forget about our donation of a "Birthday Book" in honor of your child's birthday! You may wrap it like a gift or place it in a gift bag. On your child's birthday, we will open the "gift," read it, and a picture of your child wearing their birthday crown will be attached on the inside.

I cannot run successful center time without parent volunteers!  I'd love to have you help with parties, centers and/or being a Mystery Reader.  If you'd like to be a Mystery Reader, you must have a signed and notarized affidavit on file.

If you would like to volunteer for Daily 5, math, parties, etc. and would be in the building on a more regular basis, you must file a Criminal Background and a Child Abuse check with the state.  These must also be turned in to the Central Administration Offices. Keep in mind that once your clearances are on file with our district you will be permitted to volunteer throughout your child's entire school career.

Click here to access the forms from our district website.

Scholastic Book orders are a great way to build your child's library.  Once a month, I'll send home the order form(s), if you choose to order you can either send it back to me at school with a check written out to Scholastic Book Orders, or you can place your order online.  By ordering online, you are allowing us to receive free books for our classroom library! They have set up a new system online where there are more buying options and your own personal login.
